Now that you have added your devices to the Squid Smart App dashboard, you can see data parsed from a device through the gateway and to your cloud.

Click on a device in the ”Devices” tab to read the available data for the specific device. Different types of data are shown depending on the device.

The easiest way to get proof of concept is through the already open MQTT connection to the Onics’ instance in the AWS cloud.

The MQTT server settings has already been configured into the gateway. This can be seen at the MQTT page in Squid Smart App:

To see data flow to the cloud, on a Windows PC install the Microsoft application “MQTT-Explorer”:

To access the client, use your Fleet Management credentials provided by your Onics contact person:

Before clicking “Connect” as shown below, first click on “Advanced”.

Insert the following topics in the topic line and add them:

When all topics are added, click “Certificates” and choose “Server Certificate”. 

Add the Onics server certificate which can be downloaded 

Click “Back” and save. Then click “Connect”.

When connected to the cloud, activate a device by triggering a state (example: with the Entry Sensor, trigger the “open/close” state by applying the magnet).

This will generate an event in the cloud pushed from the gateway.

Proof of concept to your own cloud can be accomplished through MQTT or AWS/Azure IoT cloud. It can be done through the RESTful API or directly in the web application*.

In the Squid Smart App web application, go to Settings → MQTT/AWS/Azure.

Parse all info needed to connect to your cloud and confirm data flow.

*By parsing information for your own cloud, you are disbanding the gateway’s connection to the Fleet Management system.

To use the RESTful API and see all available configurations and commands, go to settings and choose the advanced section. From here, click on the interactive API to enter the page.
